Weight

Dear Sir or Madam,
Are my medications (Lamictal & Topamax for epilepsy) to blame for my inability to lose weight, even though I regularly exercise, eat protein products in the evening, and also do strength and muscle building training?
Instead of losing weight from 64 to 59 kg, at a height of 1.65 cm and 33 years old, I am gaining weight again and am back at a weight of 69 kg. My biggest fear is to weigh 79 kg again like a year ago.
I have been on every forum about weight loss but they were not helpful to me, as I already exercise 3 times a week for 40 minutes and try to always eat protein-rich foods in the evening!
Should I also take a dietary supplement, which is also helpful, and if so, which one?
I hope you can help me, as I am very depressed.
Sincerely,
Good day, I am happy to help you further.
Since when have you been doing sports again and what specific sport are you doing (cardio, HIT, ...)?
It is possible that the mentioned medications may affect your metabolism in a way that makes weight loss more difficult.
Exercising three times a week for 40 minutes each time is already very good, at least promoting muscle growth and providing a good basis for a higher metabolism and calorie expenditure.
Did you know that muscles weigh significantly more than the same volume of fat? This explains why you are currently gaining weight as you build muscles. These are the foundation for gradually reducing your existing fat stores. Since fat loss is much slower than muscle gain, people often gain weight at the beginning of transitioning to physical activities.
Don't give up, keep exercising, endurance sports strengthen the heart and circulation.
Do you have any questions about this? I am happy to help you further.
Best regards,
Dr. K. Hamann
