Microbiological question

Hello dear team,

I have a question that really interests me, but I'm not sure if I'm in the right place to ask.

It's about a respiratory infection, possibly caused by Coxsackie viruses type A or B?? Or maybe a different virus instead? The respiratory infection broke out approximately three days after many mosquito bites in the heath landscape of Upper Lusatia.

Could there be a connection? Can mosquitoes also transmit flu-like viruses? Or did the many mosquito bites weaken the immune system so much that the viruses had an easy time?

Symptoms were:
Thursday: Weakness, sore throat
Friday: Sore throat and difficulty swallowing on one side, overall condition better
Saturday: Sore throat and difficulty swallowing on the other side, overall condition better
Sunday - Tuesday: Lost voice and dry cough
Wednesday - Thursday: Dry cough with mucus production and slight runny nose
(I took natural measures (herbs, vitamin C) to strengthen the immune system)

I would greatly appreciate a professional opinion. I find microbiology interesting and always want to know everything when a virus is raging in me.

Thank you very much

Kind regards

Christian Welsch

Dear questioner,

Mosquitoes can transmit virus diseases, but these are very rare in our region. It is much more likely that you have caught it from another person who is suffering from a cold. Please get yourself examined if it doesn't go away.

Best regards,
Welsch
