Hello. I have gastrointestinal problems and I could hardly go to the toilet to have a bowel movement. There was also pus and blood in my stool, but today it is better although my stool was grey. What does this mean? I also have a slight fever still.
Good day,
It could be a colitis. Blood in the stool is always to be taken seriously (the "pus" is probably mucus) and should be reason for a medical examination. Especially if fever occurs.
Grey, almost clay-colored stool, on the other hand, occurs in cases of gallbladder problems (bile duct obstruction, gallstone).
As you can see, you need a thorough examination including an ultrasound. It makes no sense at all to try to treat yourself without a doctor if you have such serious symptoms.
Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
