cancer

Hello, I am feeling a bit uncertain. I had a blood test last week and everything was fine except for my blood sugar level, which was 142 fasting. However, I had drunk a whole bottle of apple spritzer beforehand as I had to do a urine test, could that also be the reason?
I read that a sudden increase in blood sugar level can be a sign of pancreatic cancer. I am 36 years old and currently under a lot of stress, although I don't want to blame it on that.
I don't really have any problems, just always had a very sensitive stomach and can't tolerate all these additives. Since my pregnancy, it has gotten even worse, and if I really upset my stomach, I have some mild pain above my belly button in the middle for a few days. Otherwise, I have no complaints, and everything is fine from the gynecologist's point of view.
Could this be cancer? I am really scared, I have a young son.
Best regards, K.
Good day,
Your fear is completely unfounded: Just one bottle of apple spritzer is enough to raise your sugar level to 142 mg%. There is plenty of sugar in it, and you were not sober anymore.
You probably mean the opposite, that pancreatic cancer could be a reason for suddenly elevated sugar levels. It can, but you only get it at an advanced age, and then the sugar levels are significantly elevated even when you are truly sober (which you were not).
Furthermore, the pancreas is located in the back, so it causes pain just below the shoulder blades and not in the abdomen. Your pains suggest a recurring gastric irritation, which can probably be well controlled with Omeprazole (and, if it recurs, you should consider having a gastroscopy; maybe you have HP bacteria that need to be treated).
I wish you all the best and a carefree time!
Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
