HIV and AIDS

Dear doctors,

I have a question regarding the full picture of AIDS (end stage). I recently read, or understood, that the common HIV tests of the 4th generation (such as Elisa, Eclia..) can no longer detect the full stage of AIDS. My question to you is:

How can one then recognize people who have AIDS in the end stage? Can they be identified, for example, through PCR-RNA tests?

Thank you very much for any help.

Sincerely

Dr med Hans-Jürgen Bartels

Your statement is completely correct. The final stage can only be identified through a PCR-RNA test. I don't see any other possibility. Best regards
