Prostatitis following cystitis

Hello,

I got a bladder infection from my girlfriend (probably during foreplay), which then spread to the prostate. The cause was confirmed to be the bacterium E. coli. Since this is a gut bacterium, I now always worry when my intimate area comes into contact with my girlfriend's buttocks. Can I get another bladder infection and prostate infection if I lie spooning with my girlfriend in bed, both wearing underwear, and my intimate area is pressed against her buttocks, or is this very unlikely? I have read that you can get "vaccinated" against bladder infections. Can men also get vaccinated to prevent a prostate infection caused by E. coli?

Thank you in advance and best regards.

Dear inquirer,

In the position you have indicated, a transmission is very unlikely. Vaccination is more suitable for chronic courses and special constellations. Please consult your urologist.

Otherwise, hygiene during sex is very important. Both of you should wash your intimate area to prevent urinary tract infections. Go to the toilet promptly after sex.

All the best,

Dr. Meyer
