Pain on the toilet

For two days, I have had the feeling that I could constantly go to the toilet. However, only a small amount of urine comes out and it is very painful. Additionally, the urine is darker than usual, brown, sometimes almost dark red. I have been drinking extra water, but the strange discoloration remains. Last night was particularly bad, and I also had lower abdominal pain. Is this dangerous? What can I do? My friend says I should drink cranberry tea. However, I am unsure if that will help.
Good evening,
yes, this should be urgently investigated. (Urine test at the GP)
It is very likely a urinary tract infection and should be treated so that the bacteria do not spread to the kidneys, where irreversible damage can occur.
A bladder infection causes the burning pain when urinating and a reduced amount of urine.
An examination of the urine is important to confirm this urinary tract infection.
Antibiotic therapy is necessary as treatment to prevent the bacteria from ascending to the kidneys and causing permanent and irreversible damage there.
Additionally, please drink plenty of fluids to flush out the bacteria. If you have a hot water bottle or heating pad, that can help reduce discomfort in the lower abdomen when applied.
Cranberry juice strengthens the mucous membrane of the urinary tract and prevents new infections, but may not necessarily help with an acute infection.
All the best and a speedy recovery!
