Swollen hand

I had a slight accident yesterday while hitting the pinata, there is even a video of it. My brother went a bit overboard and hit it with full force while I was holding the pinata.

I was in the emergency room yesterday and the doctor took an x-ray and said everything is okay.

I should continue to keep it quiet in my bandage. But today my hand is extremely swollen.

What could this be?

MD Felix Aaslepp

Hello!
Even a bruise can cause severe swelling and pain. Since you have already had an X-ray, you should elevate, ice, and rest your arm consistently. You can and should take painkillers as needed. If the symptoms do not improve in 2 weeks, please visit your treating doctor again. In extremely rare cases, fractures may only be noticeable in the second X-ray.
I wish you all the best!
