Decrease Swelling Hand

Hello,
three weeks ago, I (34, male) got my left hand caught in a screw. Afraid of blood poisoning, I went to the emergency room a few hours later. There, the wound was cleaned and I was given antibiotics. Two days later, it became swollen and very red in the evening. I went back to the emergency room, where an orthopedic surgeon prescribed different antibiotics for a few days, gave me an orthosis (worn for a week), and marked the redness with a marker. Over the next two days, the redness and swelling decreased significantly. However, this weekend I noticed that the swelling has not completely gone down yet. It is still slightly swollen, not really visible to others. Due to experiencing myocarditis last year, I am now a hypochondriac and keeping an eye on it. I have no pain and the hand function is not restricted. My question is, is it normal for the last few percent of swelling to take longer to go down? Normally, I would have gone back to the doctor immediately, but ten years ago someone stepped on my ankle during soccer, and it took forever (several months) for the swelling to completely disappear, so I'm trying to take a more relaxed approach, although it's difficult. Thank you for your assessment.

Good morning,

yes, it is normal for a small residual swelling to remain for weeks.
You don't need to worry about that.
For example, a dislocated and immediately relocated finger can be thicker for up to three years than before.
Large bones heal quickly, while small structures take forever to fully settle down again.

Everything is fine.
It will be okay.
You don't need to do anything
except: stay calm.

Take care
