Ask a doctor on the topic of Otorhinolaryngology

Nasenmuschel translates to nasal concha in English.

I have an allergy to grasses, rye, birch and alder. In 2012, my nasal septum was straightened and my nasal turbinates were reduced in size using a laser. In 2013, the nasal turbinates were slightly reduced again using needles. No more problems. Now I read by chance that the nasal turbinates can regrow at some point. Is that true? If so, how long does it take?

Christian Welsch

Dear questioner, yes, nasal turbinates can regrow, but it varies greatly if and how strongly they do. If your allergy continues to play a role, the mucous membrane is irritated and the turbinates can grow. Best regards, Welsch
