Blood in saliva

Hello,

When I lightly gag, I constantly have a slight yellow mucus in it. Occasionally there is also some blood mixed in. Light to dark blood with partially black blood in the center. My lungs were X-rayed, everything is okay. Two months ago I had an endoscopy, where inflammation with a slight hiatal hernia (reflux) was diagnosed.

I also visited an ENT doctor because of the symptoms, who took a sample from my throat and found nothing.

What could it be, I'm slowly going crazy.

I'm afraid of throat cancer.

Can you tell me anything about this?

Christian Welsch

Dear questioner,

Even reflux can irritate the throat to the point where such symptoms occur. One should give a proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole or Pantoprazole) for a certain period of time and see if the symptoms improve. I would rule out throat cancer if the ENT doctor has not seen anything. In case of doubt, please have it checked again.

Do you have any questions? Regards, C. Welsch
