Explanation of MRI findings

Hello, I had an MRI for soft tissue in the neck!!

I would like to have the findings explained to me, as my doctor will not be back until tomorrow. I am a bit nervous because of this.

Findings:
1. Evidence of reactive rounded-oval lymph nodes in all cervical lymph node stations, more pronounced on the left side than the right. Also prominent lymphatic tissue in the area of the Waldeyer's pharyngeal ring bilaterally.

2. Suspected enlarged lymph nodes or significant lymph node aggregates are not detectable in the cervical region. No evidence of a suspicious malignant soft tissue process in the neck. No abscess.

3. Slight cystic polypoid mucosal swelling at the base of the right maxillary sinus, the other paranasal sinuses are completely pneumatized and clear. No fluid collection.

4. Right or left thyroid lobes are not enlarged.

What does this mean? Thank you very much in advance.

Dear questioner, the most important information is missing, why was the examination done?

Regarding your question:

1. Swollen lymph nodes with enlarged tonsils in the throat. The Waldeyer's ring is part of the immune system that helps to capture and learn about pathogens. So a normal finding (after an infection?)

2. There are no clear signs of a malignant disease.

3. Swollen mucous membrane in the sinuses (this should be examined by an ENT specialist), but it is probably just as harmless. No evil intentions here either.

4. Also a normal finding.

Do you have any questions about this?

Regards, Welsch
