Hard grain

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have the following problem. For a long time now, I have had a small white/translucent hard grain (about the size of a millet seed) on the nasal septum on the thin cartilaginous piece in my nose for about 1 year, first on the right side, today also on the left side at the same height. A dermatologist once looked at it and said she didn't know what it could be. Then I forgot about it for a long time, I think sometimes I unconsciously scratch it off... but it seems to come back again and now I am panicking that it could be something serious and that I might have cancer in my nose?
I know it's difficult to diagnose over the internet and I have an appointment with an ENT doctor in 4 weeks anyway, but now I am totally panicking and would like to go there immediately.

Yours sincerely.

Dear questioner, this sounds like something harmless. In the entrance of the nose, there can sometimes be small benign changes originating from connective tissue. Malignant tumors are very rarely seen, risk factors are smoking and inhaling wood dust and chemicals. If you are worried, go to the ENT doctor earlier. But this doesn't sound like anything serious. Regards Welsch
