cough for 8 weeks

Hello. I had a strong cold 8 weeks ago, I was in bed with a fever for a week (really 7 days in a row). Then I went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics, the fever went away but since then I still cough extremely, especially in the evenings when I try to fall asleep. When I look in my throat, there is nothing there, not red or anything. It feels like it's coming from my lungs.
Dear questioner, it is not uncommon for a cough to persist for some time after a severe infection. Most of the time, it will disappear without treatment. However, I would still recommend that you have your lungs checked by your primary care physician. A cough suppressant may be helpful. Do you have any questions?
