Good day,
I have had a left tonsillitis for a week now (the right one was removed 2 years ago due to an abscess). I have been taking Penicillin V 1.5 Mega every 8 hours for 6.5 days now. Physically, I am feeling better and the pain is almost gone. However, I still feel like there is something there. The tonsil is free of pus, but still slightly enlarged, there is sensitivity to pressure and a slight pain when swallowing. A slight swelling can still be felt from the outside.
Now, I am afraid of stopping the Penicillin too soon (2 years ago, a similar situation led to surgery).
I was only given Penicillin for 7 days. Now I am in the Philippines. It is difficult to find a doctor here, but antibiotics are available over the counter. There is only one type of Penicillin available here. Each capsule contains 500 mg. My question now is: can I extend the use of Penicillin V 1.5 Mega with this Penicillin for a few days until it heals completely? In what dosage should I take it?

If you are unsure whether the inflammation has healed, it would be advisable to give Penicillin in a dose of 3x 1.5 Mega for a total of 10 days, so that would be 3x 3 500 mg tablets. Do you have any questions?
