EtG detectability

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently participating in an abstinence program for preparation for the MPU (medical-psychological examination) (however, I still have my driver's license!!). Today I have to undergo the 6th urine test (EtG). I consider myself a controlled social drinker, which in my opinion has been confirmed by the previous five negative tests. Last Thursday, I consumed approximately 8.5 liters of beer in company between 1 pm and 11 pm. During that time, I also completed 2 sweaty workout sessions and of course did not consume any alcohol. Do you think there will still be EtG detectable in my urine today? Thank you for your response.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good morning,

ETG is detectable in urine for up to 48 hours, so you don't need to worry about it. However, it becomes more dangerous when testing your hair, as ETG can be detected for over three months, especially if there was a very high consumption.

CDT is another marker that can detect elevated alcohol consumption in the blood even after a longer period of time.

I hope for your sake that only urine is being tested, and I urge you to really stop drinking any alcohol.

Best regards, Dr. Höllering
