Recurring muscle twitches
Good day,
For several weeks now, I have been experiencing recurring and sometimes visible muscle twitches in my shoulders, back, upper arms, hands, lower legs, and predominantly in my calves. After a particular incident (sitting on my knees for several minutes), I also experienced strong trembling in my knees.
Since I have not experienced these issues in the past, I initially consulted my general practitioner. However, tests including an EKG, sonography of internal organs, a comprehensive blood test (all results within normal range, including a CK value of 81), and further examinations did not provide any insights.
Similarly, a subsequent appointment with a neurologist did not yield any findings. The neurologist conducted a neurological examination (EMG or similar was not performed) and found no abnormalities, only mentioning lively reflexes. According to the neurologist, there were also no signs of inflammatory diseases, leading both him and my GP to independently conclude that stress is the likely cause of the muscle twitches. They recommended relaxation techniques such as autogenic training and suggested a follow-up in six months.
Do you think it makes sense to push for further investigations, or should I accept the diagnosis of the two doctors? I do trust them, but the symptoms are very bothersome and quite literally "nerve-wracking."
Additional information about me: male, 30 years old, office job, married with two children.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
