Brain

The question may sound strange, but it is serious: When driving over cobblestones, potholes or other rough terrain, I always feel a slight 'jolting' of the brain. Am I oversensitive or can real damage occur as a result?

Dr. med. Kathrin Hamann

Good evening,

Thank you for your question, which I would like to answer for you. These minimal vibrations should not harm the brain, as it is well cushioned by the cerebrospinal fluid in the skull.

However, if you experience symptoms such as headaches from these minimal vibrations, there may be an issue with the cervical spine. In any case, I would recommend seeking further evaluation. This can initially be done by your general practitioner, with an orthopedist and a neurologist also being recommended as additional experts.

You do not need to worry about brain damage from these minimal vibrations.

Do you have any further questions? I am happy to help.

All the best and a speedy recovery!

Best regards,

Dr. K. Hamann
