Timing of required electromyography

On January 4th, 2013, I suffered a broken upper arm on my left arm, which was fixed with immediate surgery. During the fall, the radial nerve was damaged. Even after 18 days, there is no progress in mobility with the "wrist drop".
My question is, how soon should an electromyography or neurography be performed? I live in Portugal and I have been told that such examination will only be available in about 6 weeks.
Thank you for your information.
Yes good day,
It is of eminent importance that nerves start functioning again as early as possible after an injury. If no progress is visible, it should be checked as soon as possible whether the nerve may be "damaged". Then surgery would be to be considered.
Certainly, a period of time must be waited to see if the function returns. However, if nothing happens for 3 weeks, the examination is recommended.
All the best.
Best regards,
Dr. Schröter
