Muscle twitching 2

Good evening! For several weeks now I have been experiencing muscle twitches mainly in my left hand and forearm... EMG on the palm and forearm was normal... However, I am very concerned that it is always only this one muscle that twitches. How can this be explained?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good day,

Muscles tend to twitch when they have to perform unfamiliar activities or are overloaded. They twitch especially when someone has been texting or typing a lot as a right-hander. If sleep deprivation or nervousness are added to the mix, it can become quite persistent. Don't even think about MS or ALS! These are the least likely reasons for muscle twitching, especially if it is only limited to a small region and the EMG is normal.

Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
