Headache

Hello,
since October I have been experiencing headaches every other day, sometimes every day, which I can only manage to control with Ibuprofen 800mg. I have noticed that the headaches occur more frequently at work.

What could be causing this?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

Unfortunately, you have not mentioned anything about your age or any previous or accompanying illnesses. In young and middle age, often the neck is to blame for such headaches when the muscles are tense here (stress, work, playing on mobile phones). A visual impairment is also a possibility, in which case the pain is often in the forehead area. Low or high blood pressure and dehydration are other common causes. Brain tumors or vascular malformations there are extremely rare.

If you continue to take such a high dose of pain medication, you will only get new headaches from it (keyword: medication-overuse headache). Therefore, please make an appointment with your primary care physician so that they can conduct the necessary diagnostics.

Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
