What do I need to consider when taking Niacin?
Hello,
I am Asian and have the typical genetic defect in the breakdown of acetaldehyde.
Now I have read that one can enhance the metabolism with niacin (Vitamin B3) and thus avoid or mitigate the "flush effect" when consuming alcohol, as the body then does not have to process the toxic acetaldehyde.
My questions now are as follows:
1. What should be considered when taking it daily?
2. How long should this be taken?
3. Does niacin only help during the intake period or does it also strengthen the inactive enzyme for the future, so that one can also do without niacin later?
4. What are the side effects? Are there any serious ones?
5. Which niacin would you recommend?
