Pregnancy anti-D prophylaxis

Hello, I am currently in 26+2 weeks of pregnancy. The first antibody test was negative. The second antibody test is now positive. I have blood type 0 Rh-positive. My husband has blood type A Rh-negative. Is there now an incompatibility for me since the second test was positive? Do I need to start Anti-D prophylaxis? I would be very grateful for a quick response.

Dear Inquirer,

The Anti-D prophylaxis is for Rhesus-NEGATIVE women who may potentially have a Rhesus-positive child. Since you are Rh-POSITIVE, you actually do not need Anti-D prophylaxis. The Anti-D prophylaxis is administered to Rh-Neg. women before and after childbirth to prevent the formation of antibodies against the positive Rh factor when fetal blood cells enter the maternal blood system.

Regarding the test, what antibodies were found? Why was the test conducted in the first place? Do you have any other specific conditions or illnesses?

Please feel free to ask any further questions if there is anything else that may be of concern. I wish you a wonderful weekend and all the best for the birth ;-)

Best regards,

T.C. Müller
