Hello,
I had sexual intercourse with an unknown woman from the red light district. The condom broke during vaginal intercourse, and I noticed it after 3 to 4 minutes. The question of whether she is HIV positive was not answered at all, and based on her behavior, I must assume she is positive. What is the likelihood that I have been infected?
Best regards
Hello,
The likelihood of transmission from a definitively positive partner ranges from 0.03 to 5.6, depending on the study. Now, the silence of the lady does not necessarily mean that she is positive, it could also be that she doesn't know or even felt offended by your question.
Nevertheless, I would recommend presenting yourself to an HIV clinic for post-exposure prophylaxis if you believe that the lady could be positive.
Wishing you all the best!
Warm regards, Dr. Gehring
