Can PMS cause problems when trying to get pregnant?
I have a general question about the topic of fertility.
I am 28 years old. I have a 28-29 day menstrual cycle and have never taken the pill. I experience period pain on days 1 and 2 (day 1 is very intense, then fades). I have had no cysts so far.
No spotting or bleeding between periods.
Only once in my life has my period "skipped" (but I was really stressed), and a hormone test was done. The testosterone level was borderline high at 0.62 (normal up to 0.6). Otherwise everything is fine.
Ovulation tests show that I am ovulating. However, I suffer from extreme premenstrual syndrome (PMS). In the second half of my cycle, I get a strange feeling in my stomach (bloated), water retention (breast tenderness and enlargement), just don't feel well, pimples, and oily skin.
Everything improves after my period.
Could this indicate a progesterone deficiency? I have read about this before. And that women with a progesterone deficiency may have trouble getting pregnant. In that case, wouldn't all women with PMS have fertility issues? What do you think about this?
I'm just worried that my testosterone or the problems in my second half of the cycle will affect me and my PMS. I am planning to try to conceive next year and that's why I am currently feeling anxious.
