Spirometry

Good evening,
My question concerns the following topic: I have heard that a spirometry must be performed with a nose clip. To what extent would the result be improved/worsened if the examination is conducted without a nose clip? That's all, thank you very much!
Good evening,
In spirometry, one measures how much air someone can exhale within one second, so a airflow.
The nose clip ensures that the air really only flows out through the mouth. Exhaling through the nose would worsen the result, because the airflow from the mouth would be reduced. One could then mistakenly believe that the airflow had been reduced due to an increased airway resistance in the bronchi.
