Pain in the lower left abdomen

Hello,

my girlfriend is complaining about the following symptoms:

"Since this morning, my entire abdomen feels hard, I have very strong pain in the lower left abdomen (just to the right of the left pelvic bone) when I cough, sneeze, yawn, and after urinating, when I press on the right side it hurts on the left... it can't be an intolerance, I haven't eaten anything different than usual... I also don't have my period right now because of a change in pills (last time I took them continuously)"

Can you please let me know what could be the cause?

Good evening,

In this case, essentially two possibilities come to mind. On one hand, the left ovary and on the other hand, the intestine.
If your friend is still young, which I assume, a visit to the gynecologist tomorrow would be recommended.

It is not the appendix, as it is very rarely on the left side. Normally, it is on the right. However, other inflammatory changes in the intestine could be a possibility. If the gynecologist doesn't find anything, then the internist and gastroenterologist would be consulted next.

Unfortunately, you don't have a way to address the cause of the pain yourself. You can take pain medication to manage the pain, but that's about it.

Important: If the pain worsens significantly, you should immediately go to a hospital.

I hope this helps, otherwise please ask for more information.

Get well soon,
