Ask a doctor on the topic of Dermatology

Type of skin lesion

Hello,

I have had a mole since I was little:

The picture is attached and for safety reasons, here is also a link to a website.

see picture: http://s14.directupload.net/file/d/3452/h7mqfixz_jpg.htm

Now I have an appointment with the dermatologist on 10.12.2013 with FotoFinder, etc. I wanted to ask a dermatologist in advance what kind of skin mole this is (dermal nevus or compound nevus, etc...) and whether it is something benign or rather suspicious.

I also request a description of the skin mole, such as how it appears to a dermatologist based on this picture. Is it sharply defined, etc...

Thank you for your response...

Best regards

Christian Welsch

Dear questioner,
Looking at a photo cannot replace an assessment by a dermatologist. Unfortunately, your mole does not appear completely harmless as it is raised from the skin, has irregular boundaries, and has significantly different colors.
I would recommend removal, especially if the mole has grown.
An accurate histology can only be obtained once the lesion is removed.
Do you have any questions?
Best regards, C. Welsch
