Assessment of mole/pigment change
Dear doctor,
I have a small mole or similar on my right nipple, unfortunately in a precarious spot (diameter at the widest/longest point about 0.4 cm). I do not know since when I have had this. I first noticed it about 4 months ago while showering. Since I was pregnant and the pregnancy was not unproblematic, I did not pay much attention to it. Now I have looked at it critically again. It is not raised or has any bumps, it is evenly colored (even though it may look different in the photo); however, it has irregular borders and an asymmetrical shape. I have not noticed any changes recently. When you "stretch out" the nipple, you can see that the discoloration is not from one mole, but rather consists of 9 different-sized brown dots that are very close to each other. The dots are all essentially the same pigment. It is not a complete mole (there is no lighter discoloration between the individual points, etc.), but rather looks as if someone has painted over the existing skin structure on the nipple with a brush full of brown paint. Therefore, the mentioned points are also intersected by the normal "skin lines" of the nipple.
Please excuse this strange explanation - I wanted to make it as clear as possible?!? My question now is whether you would consider this pigmented mole as very concerning (especially because of the irregular borders or rather: distribution of the brown dots) or if you know of similar changes - especially during or after pregnancy - in other patients. I know, of course, that this does not replace a visit to the dermatologist.
Thank you very much in advance for your efforts!
