Scar after laser removal of a spider nevus

Dear Sir or Madam,

In September, I had a Spider Naevus removed under my eye by a dermatologist using laser treatment. After the wound healed, a slight indentation and a different color than the surrounding tissue appeared at the treated area. I assumed that this would go away once the skin fully regenerated, but unfortunately, this has not happened yet.

Should I assume that this is a scar? The Spider Naevus always bothered me, which is why I had it removed. However, the scar bothers me even more because it is much more visible. Shouldn't the treating doctor have informed me about the possibility of scarring before the treatment?

I would be grateful for a brief message!

Best regards,

Christian Welsch

Dear questioner,

Scarring after removal of skin changes, regardless of the method, is always a risk of such procedures and usually the doctor should inform you about it, and usually you sign an informed consent form before such a procedure.
For me, it would be too early, as the skin can react very sensitively to laser treatments, and a stable diagnosis can usually only be made after six months to three quarters of a year. Please consult the treating doctor and ask about the possibility of supportive post-treatment.

Sincerely,

C. Welsch
