Shutting down a workplace comparable to a co-working space.
April 8, 2018 | 25,00 EUR | answered by Steuerberater Bernd Thomas
Hello,
I am currently preparing my tax return for 2017. I had income from two sources:
a) from a part-time job subject to social security contributions (50%) with the option to choose my workplace
b) from self-employment on the side
I am now a member of a Business Community that provides both workspaces and a networking platform. In 2017, I mainly used the workspaces to carry out activities a) and b). The Business Community is called Factory Berlin (https://factoryberlin.com) and the fee is 50 euros per month.
I would like to deduct this monthly fee for the year 2017 from my taxes. Can you provide me with a procedure for this? It seems to me that the key is that it is a workspace.
A brief, practical answer would be sufficient for me.
Thank you!
Dear inquirer,
I am happy to answer your inquiry based on the information provided by you in the context of an initial consultation on frag-einen.com. The response will be based on the factual information you have provided. Missing or inaccurate information can affect the legal outcome.
Expenses for the business community are considered deductible expenses for employed work and operating expenses for self-employment.
For your tax return, you should allocate the costs either based on records or, if this is not possible, based on an estimate, for example, splitting them equally.
You declare the deductible expenses in form N and the deduction of operating expenses in the profit determination (e.g. form EÜR).
Best regards,
Bernd Thomas
