Depreciation rental income
Hello,
I have been renting out an apartment (W1) for 2 years. Since February of this year, I have been renting out a second apartment (W2). W2 is located on the upper floor of my single-family house (EFH) that I purchased in the fall of 2016. After about 3 months of renting out W2, I had a rooftop terrace built and roller shutters installed for the skylights.
My question is: Can I deduct the costs of the rooftop terrace and roller shutters from the rental income of all rented properties for tax purposes, or only for apartment No. 2?
