I have been experiencing sleep disturbances for several days now. This manifests itself in waking up multiple times during the night. Today, this was accompanied by a strong tremor in my hands and arms, which is still ongoing, cold hands and feet, diarrhea, dizziness in the eye area, slight tingling in the fingertips, tightness in the chest, increased hair loss for days, swollen right foot above between toes and ankle. Since I own a blood pressure monitor, I have also measured it. It is 113/86 and the pulse is 84. Additionally, I feel like a valve is closing three fingers below my throat. This causes a strange feeling while breathing, which occurs irregularly and more frequently in the past few weeks than before. What could be the cause of this? I am very worried and do not feel well. Thank you for your response.
Dear questioner,
The symptoms you have described, especially the cold extremities (hands and feet), tingling in the fingertips, dizziness, and swelling in the foot area, primarily indicate a circulatory disorder.
Circulatory disorders most commonly occur in the heart, extremities (especially the legs), and brain. They can lead to life-threatening conditions such as heart attack and stroke. Since circulatory disorders often only cause symptoms in advanced stages, preventive measures are of great importance.
Without knowing your age and constitution, it is difficult to assess the blood pressure you have measured; at rest, the normal systolic arterial pressure is 13.3–17.4 kPa (100–130 mmHg) and the diastolic value is 8.0–11.3 kPa (60–85 mmHg). Are you active? Do you move enough or regularly?
The feeling of tightness in the chest and difficulties with breathing that you have described are further serious reasons to visit a colleague who can make a proper diagnosis through a thorough medical history, something that unfortunately cannot be done through online consultation alone. Do not burden yourself with negative thoughts - the first step now is to see a doctor.
I hope I have been able to help you. If you have any further questions, I am always available to assist.
Wishing you good health.
Best regards,
