Year of divorce
December 31, 2010 | 25,00 EUR | answered by Bernhard Müller
Dear Sir/Madam,
My so-called year of separation was determined by a lawyer on 01.07.2010 and also communicated to the other party and me in writing. I am no longer represented by this lawyer and am looking for another lawyer. Does the appointment still stand or does it need to be rescheduled?
Thank you.
Dear inquirer,
There is a separation year and a divorce date.
The separation year begins when the spouses no longer live together as a married couple. Usually, one of them moves out of the apartment. It is also possible for both spouses to live separately in the same apartment, each using a different room and each taking care of their own things, such as cooking for themselves, doing their own laundry, and so on.
The divorce date is determined by the court upon request. This is the date when the court will discuss the divorce and declare the marriage as dissolved.
Changing lawyers will not affect either of these dates. Therefore, the date determined by your previous lawyer will remain unchanged.
Kind regards,
Bernhard Müller
