Liability of so-called release staff for aviation maintenance organizations according to EASA Part-145
Dear Sir or Madam,
it is about an employee who works in an aviation maintenance company, carrying out the activity as certifying staff according to EASA Part-145 of COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No. 1321/2014. For this activity, there are certain minimum requirements that the employee must meet. These requirements are defined by the Federal Aviation Office. In addition, the employee must take a written exam and will then be certified as certifying staff by the Federal Aviation Office, in connection with his signature sample on file.
Certifying staff is the final authority certifying the airworthiness of flight safety critical "products and equipment" by issuing and signing an EASA Form 1. Does this staff then have a higher level of responsibility in terms of civil and labor law liability compared to "normal" quality control staff who perform the final inspection?
Kind regards,
Prospective certifying staff
