Ask a doctor on the topic of Pediatrics

With a pram over cobblestones.

Hello,

I went to the doctor with my newborn two days ago. He is 5 days old. I placed him in the stroller and had to go over quite thick, wide cobblestones (in the old town), causing his head to constantly fall quite strongly to the left and right and the little one to be shaken up a bit. I walked briskly, but not ran. The bumpy ride was about 300 meters long. In hindsight, I wonder if this could have had any effects (e.g. on the head/neck, whiplash, etc.). Of course, the stroller has a thin foam mattress on which he was lying. The stroller, however, does not have air tires, but solid/hard rubber. Therefore, it probably jostled a bit more than with air tires. Otherwise, he seems to be doing well, as far as I can tell as a layperson (his hemoglobin level needs to be monitored, as it is borderline high, but that has nothing to do with this). By the way, the doctor didn't notice anything, but I also didn't tell him about the ride, as it only occurred to me afterwards.

How dangerous can uneven paths be with strollers? How crucial is the speed? Do you always have to walk very cautiously or can you also walk at a brisk pace when you have to go over rough cobblestones with a stroller? Do strollers absorb shocks well in these situations?

Thank you for your response
Best regards
