Round back

Hello,

since my youth, I have had a rounded back that is visible. Up until 3 weeks ago, I had no problems with it, but for the past 3 weeks, I have been suffering from breathing difficulties. It can be observed that my shoulders are very tense, often tingling, and my fingers become numb. Could it be that this tension radiates to the chest and thus causes the breathing difficulties?
It is worth mentioning that I am currently undergoing physiotherapy, but my physiotherapist has not yet found the trigger for the symptoms. Additionally, I am training at the gym (muscle building training)!

Best regards

Hello,

I am a neurosurgeon and I am happy to help you.

Tensions in the trapezius/shoulder area can lead to pain and resulting breathing difficulties (due to the tension spreading to the respiratory muscles). However, tingling and numbness in the fingers cannot be explained by this. The supply of the arms/fingers is solely through the nerves in the cervical spine area, so a nerve root compression/disc herniation should be ruled out with an MRI.

Best regards and take care
