Problems after cervical spine surgery

Hello,

I had surgery on my cervical spine on 20.05.21 with the use of 2 cages. The diagnosis was cervical myelopathy. (and I also have two herniated discs in my cervical spine and spinal canal stenosis in the lumbar spine).

Unfortunately, my symptoms in the form of unsteadiness while walking and problems with my arms, especially the right arm (feeling of heaviness in the biceps with slight numbness), have not significantly improved. Initially, I thought it would get better, but now I believe it is deteriorating almost daily.

I also somehow feel that my whole body is becoming stiff. This feeling is not present in bed, it only occurs after getting up and moving around.

I saw a neurologist and had nerve conduction velocity measured, everything was okay. I have also seen my surgeon, who has requested a repeat MRI of the cervical spine (appointment scheduled for 17.11.) and then a follow-up appointment on 22.11.2021. I am of course very afraid that it might lead to paralysis.

My question is... are these symptoms normal after such a procedure... do the nerves need time to recover or is this a cause for concern?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Sandra
