Osteoporosis

In February, a manifest osteoporosis was diagnosed in me: bone mineral density 59.5 mg/ml; relative to the average age value 64%; Z-Score -1.2 SD; T-Score -3.6 SD. Comment: no evidence of focal osteolysis in the axial single layers. In the topogram, vertebral body squashing fracture of L3 with wedging deformity.
Following this, in early March, I received an injection of Bonviva 3 mg from my doctor. However, my vein became inflamed afterwards, and my doctor does not consider any other vein suitable for injection, so I have now been prescribed Prolia 60 mg by him. But the side effects are said to be even stronger with that.
Is there any other option for me besides medication, or are they absolutely necessary?
Dear questioner,
You are asking for an alternative medication to the prefilled syringes prescribed to you. First and foremost, your primary care physician or treating specialist is the first and most important point of contact, as they know you best through previous medical history and treatment. A purely online consultation cannot offer a suitable alternative in this case.
To answer your question specifically: There are hardly any alternatives with a similar spectrum of effectiveness. While side effects are known, they vary in severity and occurrence from patient to patient.
Have you already filled the prescription or undergone treatment? Prolia is a very promising medication selected by your doctor based on your osteoporosis. You should try the medication. If complications arise within a timeframe defined by you that make you feel uncomfortable, discuss them with your doctor. There are alternatives to consider in that case. However, it is equally possible, if not more likely, that the positive effects may outweigh any potential side effects.
I hope I have been able to assist you. If you have any further questions, I am always available to help.
Wishing you good health.
Best regards,
