Ask a doctor on the topic of Ophthalmology

The translation of "Blitz" from German to English is "lightning" or "flash".

Hello,

Over a week ago, when I woke up in the middle of the night, I saw a bright flash in the corner of my eye. It happened exactly when I opened my eye after waking up. It was only very brief, about a second, but it worries me a lot, as I have a fear that it could be related to the retina.
Two years ago, something similar caught my attention when I got up and turned my head in the dark towards the nightstand, there was also a quick flash. At that time, I went to the eye doctor because I was also afraid of retinal detachment, the doctor examined my retina, and he said he could only see half of it, but what he could see was completely fine. And since I don't belong to any risk group, have no illness, no glasses, no surgery, he told me not to worry. The flash did not occur for two years and now it happened again a week ago. Maybe I'm making myself crazy for no reason.
I also have dry eyes, and when this happened, I had a lot of "sleep" in my eye. This morning, a similar phenomenon caught my attention, but I unconsciously triggered it myself. After waking up (on the other eye), I rubbed the inner corner of my eye, and a similar flash occurred, only a bit smaller, in the outer corner. Is this harmless?
During the day, I have no problems, and even in the dark, I can look around without any anomalies. It has always happened after waking up, strangely enough.
Perhaps you could reassure me a bit.
