Constantly exhausted by cancer?

Dear Sir or Madam,

For several months, I have been complaining of persistent severe fatigue. In addition, I also experience constant dizziness, hot flashes, and headaches. I am completely lacking in motivation, hardly feel any joy, and generally cannot express emotions. Also, my appetite has been decreasing. As I am increasingly considering the possibility of having cancer, I am turning to you in the hope of receiving some adequate answers. I have already consulted my primary care physician. My blood values are okay so far, but my kidney values are 0.1 above the normal range. However, my fears and pains are no longer taken seriously, as I have been diagnosed with an anxiety/panic disorder a few years ago. However, I can distinguish this from other pains and signals. Furthermore, I suffer from a motor tic disorder that is getting worse (which only affects my head/eyes and shoulder area). This also troubles me greatly, and I do not know what to do about it. These symptoms mainly manifest at work, but hardly in social situations. I am at my wit's end and do not know what to do or which specialist to turn to.

My symptoms range from cancer to depression or burnout syndrome. At least according to the internet. I can also sleep for over ten hours and still feel totally weak, exhausted, and completely down. I have even thought about a brain disease...

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good morning,

All of the symptoms you mentioned first perfectly fit with depression, and not at all with cancer. I would recommend taking a depression self-test online.

Tic disorders are also not a consequence of cancer and can be effectively treated with psychotherapy. Since a neurologist is responsible for this, and a psychiatrist for depression, I would recommend finding a doctor who is both. You can find good ones at www.jameda.de.

All the best!

Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
