Serotonin syndrome or flu-like infection?
I am 34 years old and my standard medication includes: in the morning; venlafaxine 75mg, beloc zok 47.5 mg, delix plus, in the evening; mirtazapine 15mg, aspirin 100, ezetrol 10mg, fenofibrate 250mg. We were in Croatia from the 18th to the 30th of September, in the middle of the vacation I experienced strong pain radiating from my neck to my arm, so I went to the city's emergency room and was prescribed tramadol 150mg retard and drops with a dosage schedule of 150mg retard in the morning and 150mg retard plus 100mg syrup in the evening. I explained my medical history to the doctor and brought the medications I am currently taking. When asked about serotonin syndrome, she replied that it would not develop with the short duration of intake. Towards the end of the vacation, I caught a very strong flu which I still have today. Sweating attacks, runny nose, totally exhausted. My wife has not shown any signs of infection yet. Could this be serotonin syndrome? I have stopped taking Tramal for 2 days now and there is no physical improvement in sight, I also skipped the Venlafaxine today. Would it be possible to recover from SS at home or is hospital treatment necessary?
