Thrombosis in the calf?

Dear Sir or Madam,

Yesterday, I was out walking in the rain wearing rubber boots, and after about an hour, I realized that they were too tight and my calves started to hurt. I had to continue walking in the rain for another 4 hours. I didn't think much of it at the time and thought it was just muscle soreness.

Today, both of my calves are hurting, more so when walking and standing, like a muscle ache. I unfortunately googled it and it seems that a tight boot shaft can lead to thrombosis. Could it be possible that I have a thrombosis?

I don't really have any risk factors, but I am taking the pill. What do you think I should do?

Best regards.

Good morning,

If you are not used to this walking distance, muscle soreness is highly likely. A bilateral thrombosis would be extremely unusual, especially since walking counteracts it. Thrombosis causes swelling in the lower legs. If you have noticed this, please see a doctor. If not, you can rest assured and wait for your muscle soreness to subside.

Warm regards, Dr. Höllering
