Inflammation levels deteriorating rapidly.
Good day, my mother was admitted to the hospital a week ago because her right leg buckled while walking. Since she had a thrombosis and a minor stroke last year, there was suspicion that her symptoms were related to the same cause. Initial examinations did not confirm a thrombosis or stroke, so she was supposed to be discharged that following Thursday. On Wednesday morning, she complained of nausea and vomited several times. Her condition worsened significantly overnight on Thursday. She was given a nasogastric tube and the treating doctors decided to perform emergency surgery, fearing intestinal bleeding or similar. Her blood values, especially the "inflammation value," were and still are life-threatening. She is very, very weak, partially confused, and has difficulty speaking. Since yesterday, she has been receiving antibiotics and the "inflammation value" has improved slightly today. The doctors still do not know the underlying cause of the poor values. The treating doctors are not specialists in the field of neurology. Would it be advisable to transfer her to a hospital where neurology specialists are available?
