Fear of thrombosis in the arm

Hello,

I am really scared of getting a thrombosis in my arm. Sometimes I wake up at night and my arm feels numb and tingly. I have the feeling that it's coming from my neck or that I was lying on it, but when I move my shoulders and head, it goes away within a minute or two, so I'm not worried about that. However, a few times I woke up with strong pain in my elbow and upper arm. I can move my arm with pain. If I move it and massage the upper arm a few times, the pain goes away within a few minutes. I always thought I must have held it in a wrong position during sleep causing the pain. Now I read about arm thrombosis on the internet. It said that this form of thrombosis is rare. But I also read on one site that a thrombosis can occur during sleep if something is restricting blood flow. That is scaring me now. Can it really happen just like that? I don't think I have any other risk factors. I am 35, female, weigh 60 kilos, don't take the pill, don't smoke, and try to move enough in my daily life. I read that magnesium can prevent thrombosis, so I take it. However, I may only drink 1 to 1 1/2 liters of water.

Good day, I am happy to help you further.

A thrombosis of the arm is extremely unlikely given your low risk profile and the described symptoms. The tingling sensation is most likely explained by a temporarily pinched nerve. This is usually harmless. Your general practitioner should take a look at your cervical spine, as there may be tensions present that could also explain the symptoms.

Kind regards
