Elevated Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme value
I received the results of my blood test today:
Many values were measured in me (especially those relevant for autoimmune diseases or systemic diseases), and all except the ACE value are within the normal range. Many values were measured and none were left out (PCR BSG, ANA, GOT; GPT, IG values, ANCA, etc., everything is included and all are within the normal range).
However, the ACE value shows a high value, the reference range according to the Portuguese laboratory is 13.3 - 63.9, my value according to the result is 74.5.
I am very concerned about this value now. I cannot interpret it.
I know that this value can be related to sarcoidosis, but it is also quite unspecific. It is just a marker that is used if sarcoidosis is suspected.
Now my question is, is an elevated ACE value always a sign of some disease?
Sarcoidosis was already ruled out in me a year ago due to the absence of symptoms and current X-ray, as well as further thoracic CT + bronchoscopy.
Can this value be elevated in a healthy person as well?
Or is there always an underlying disease that needs to be meticulously identified now? All other blood values are within the normal range, only the ACE value is elevated. Thank you in advance.
