Probability of a pregnancy?

Hello,

my partner is still in Austria for another week, so I have a question:

After the pill break, she started taking the pill again on Thursday (July 8th). Two days later, we had unprotected sex (that was on Saturday).
On Wednesday, July 14th, she forgot to take the pill, which she only realized on Thursday at her regular pill-taking time. She skipped the pill from Wednesday and only took the one from Thursday.
Except for the mentioned intercourse, there have been no others.

What is the likelihood of pregnancy?
She has now started bleeding, is this normal?
At what point is a pregnancy test reliable?

Thank you in advance.

Dear inquirer,
Thank you for your inquiry.
To the point: Sperm can survive in the female body for up to 48 hours. If we take Saturday as the day of intercourse, the time until Wednesday should have been enough for no pregnancy to occur. I say "should have been" because in medicine, nothing can be said with absolute certainty.
In theory, it is possible that your girlfriend still became pregnant, but I cannot give you a probability for this, although it is not very high.
The bleeding could be due to your partner forgetting to take the pill. This naturally leads to hormonal fluctuations in the body, which sometimes result in bleeding.
A pregnancy test from the pharmacy can usually be used about 14 days after fertilization (in your case, this would be July 24th) and will then provide fairly reliable results. You can already have the pregnancy confirmed by a blood test at the gynecologist.
I hope I could help you and wish you all the best,
Warm regards, Susanne Plotz
