Tetanus booster

Hello,

it's me again, your hobby hypochondriac.
Today's topic, tetanus ;)

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place with you, as I don't know how you feel about the topic.
I was immunized as a child, then boosted at 10 years old and again at 21, I got vaccinated, now I'm 31 and the last vaccine I received was around September/October 2002.
Now I've read a lot about pros and cons. Many say a vaccine is unnecessary and the pharmaceutical industry just wants to make money, once you're immunized, you have enough antibodies in your body. Others say it's not even possible to immunize the body against tetanus, as you can't immunize the body against toxins.
Others are completely spinning and think it's the most important thing ever.
So, now I'm spinning too, because I got a blister on my heel...I walked around with a blister that was slightly open in my shoe...I read on the internet that the pathogens are even in the street dust?? Waaahhh... I thought they were only in the soil...Is it dangerous with the blister? It was open for two days and I have now cleaned it with water, put zinc ointment on it and a blister plaster on it....can you actually get tetanus like this? I would like to hear from a doctor how one can get infected at all? And honestly, does a vaccine completely expire after exactly 10 years? I have so many relatives and acquaintances, some of whom were vaccinated over 20 years ago....
Since I am a hypochondriac, I also think about getting vaccinated again, fear of side effects, etc. back then I had a fever, got the shot in the buttocks and couldn't sit on my butt for three days :-/
I also heard that a woman had a titer determination done and after 18 years!! she still had enough protection...Can you reassure me? Is the basic immunization really enough?

Best regards

Dear inquirer,

Please remain calm. There are studies that assume protection lasts up to 20 years with full immunization. The likelihood of contracting tetanus increases with the size and level of contamination of the wound. A blister on the foot is therefore relatively harmless, especially since you still have sufficient protection. Since your last vaccination was 10 years ago, I would recommend getting a booster shot soon. In my opinion, a titer determination is uncommon and does not provide enough information about protection. Do you have any questions?
