Medicines

Hello,
I have a question regarding medication intake.
Yesterday at half past one in the afternoon and yesterday evening at half past ten, I took a tablet of cough suppressant (Dextromethorphan) each. I would like to know when this active ingredient is completely metabolized, as I have been unable to sleep for days due to coughing and might want to take a sleeping pill (Zopiclone) this evening. The leaflet only states that the two medications should not be combined. Therefore, my question is, when is the Dextromethorphan completely metabolized?
Additionally, I would like to know if I can combine Naproxen with Zopiclone, or if the Dextromethorphan can interact with Naproxen?
Kind regards,

Dr. med. Kathrin Hamann

Hello,

I am happy to help you.

I would not take Naproxen together with Zopiclone. But the Dextromethorphan should be sufficiently metabolized by this evening and should therefore not be a problem.

Drink plenty of still water or herbal tea, take it easy. Cough suppressants like Bronchipret or Thymiverlan would also be helpful and should not be a problem with Zopiclone if you allow 60 minutes between doses.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me here.
Best regards,
