I have been suffering from hives for about 2 years. How can one cure this?
Dear inquirer,
you are suffering from medically diagnosed chronic urticaria if it has been present for 2 years. The causes of chronic hives are very diverse and often a definite cause cannot be determined. Possible underlying factors may include:
- Allergies
- Food intolerances
- Physical causes such as heat or cold
- Psychological stress
To alleviate symptoms, your general practitioner may prescribe antihistamines or cortisone. However, these medications only alleviate symptoms and do not cure the underlying condition, such as an allergy. If the medications are not effective, there may be a psychosomatic cause at play. This would need to be treated with significant stress reduction and possibly psychotherapy.
A brief inpatient evaluation at a dermatological center may be beneficial if various tests, such as allergy tests (e.g. prick test), have not been conducted yet.
If conventional medicine does not provide a solution or cannot identify the cause, a visit to an alternative practitioner such as a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner may be a good option for you.
I wish you all the best and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
Best regards.
